What hours is the pathology collection open? 

The hours available for this service are:

Northam 8.00am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Yes, you will need a doctor’s referral.

Costs involved in pathology services?

Pathology services are usually free of charge for Medicare card holders for many common tests such as blood testing etc. However, there are some tests that Medicare does not cover and for these you may well receive an invoice. Non-Medicare card holders should be entitled to reimbursement by their health insurance provider.

How do I get my results?

Please note in order to obtain your results it is necessary to visit your doctor, due to legal restrictions. Most results can take a few days but some may take a few weeks.

What tests can the pathology services test for?

Clinipath Pathology provides the following services:

  • All routine biochemistry testing; cancer markers; hormones; therapeutic drugs; vitamins; trace elements; urine drug screening, liver and kidney function, cholesterol and lipid screening, diabetes screening, thyroid function, inflammatory markers.
  • All routine haematology testing such as anaemia tests; coagulation testing; warfarin/INR testing.
  • Microbiology testing such as sexually transmitted infection (STI/STD) screening eg PCR testing; Serological testing; Parasitology; Mycology – infectious diseases serology testing.
  • Histopathology/Cytology: Histopathology and cytology on all anatomical specimens; Thin prep; FNA; immunohistochemistry – which includes excisional biopsies or sampling of any human tissues to examine for signs of cancer or any cell change/cytological examination.
