Wheatbelt Counselling Services

Wheatbelt Psychological and Counselling Services comprises a team of Counsellors and Psychologists, who together provide a counselling service to the Wheatbelt.

The Department of Health and Ageing's funding programs Access to Approved Psychological Services (ATAPS) and Rural Primary Health Services (RPHS) are the primary funders for Wheatbelt Psychological and Counselling Services.

Wheatbelt GP Network's preference is for the client to be connected with a local GP.  Residents interested in attending the Counselling service are first encouraged to make an appointment with their GP who will submit a referral to the service or, if appropriate, to another mental health agency in the region.

Referrals to Wheatbelt GP Network are to be emailed via MMEx.    The referral template can be found below.

For further information, please phone Carl Della, Allied Health Manager, on  (08) 9621 1530 or email alliedhealth@wheatbelt.com.au.

INTRODUCTION OF FEES

Due to the increasing costs of providing the Counselling service and difficulties in accessing additional funding, the Wheatbelt GP Network can no longer offer Counselling at no charge.  The following fees will apply to new referrals from 1 October 2010:

$30.00 per session    - Adults

$5.00 per session      - Pension and Health Care Card Holders.
                               - Children Under 16

Medicare services (resulting in no fee to the client) are available when a GP Mental Health Care Plan is created and used to refer to a Pscyhologist.
Please contact Carl Della on (08) 9621 1530 or email alliedhealth@wheatbelt.com.au to confirm a Psychologist is available in your area.
